Government Allocates Additional GHS25 Million to WAEC for Timely Release of Results
In a bid to ensure the swift release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, the Ministry of Education has allocated an additional GHS25 million to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
This decision comes after reports of delays in the marking process, which were attributed to financial constraints faced by WAEC. The additional funds are aimed at expediting the marking activities and ensuring the timely completion of the process.
Kwasi Kwarteng, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, emphasized the importance of timely results for students, parents, and educational institutions. He stated, “The Ministry of Education recognizes the importance of timely WASSCE results, and this additional funding will support WAEC’s operations and ensure a smooth continuation of the marking activities.”
WAEC has welcomed the government’s intervention and has assured the Ministry of Education that the 2024 WASSCE results will be released soon. While the exact date for the release of the results has not yet been confirmed, both WAEC and the Ministry are committed to ensuring a swift and efficient process.
This development comes as a positive update following earlier reports of delays due to WAEC’s financial challenges. The government’s action to release the additional funds marks a significant step towards resolving the issues and ensuring that students receive their results without further delay.
