Medikal Declares 2025 as a Year Without Features: “It’s Going to Be a Selfish Year”
Ghanaian rapper Medikal has announced that he will not be collaborating on any features in 2025, choosing instead to focus solely on his personal music projects.
Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, the “Ayekoo” hitmaker shared his decision, saying, “Next year I no go do features. Ego be very selfish year for myself because this year I did a lot of features.”
The declaration follows a highly collaborative 2024, during which Medikal teamed up with several artists across Ghana’s vibrant music scene, including Beeztrap KOTM, Kwesi Amewuga, Kofi Mole, Uncle Rich, and dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale.
Medikal’s contributions through features have solidified his presence in Ghanaian music, showcasing his versatility and influence. However, he now feels it is time to focus inward and develop his own body of work without external collaborations.
Before his self-imposed hiatus takes effect, Medikal stressed the importance of releasing his long-awaited collaboration with fellow rapper Eno Barony. Fans have eagerly anticipated this pairing, and Medikal confirmed it must happen in 2024, as 2025 is completely reserved for his solo efforts.
Medikal rose to fame in the mid-2010s with hits like “Confirm” and “Anthem”, earning a reputation for his distinct flow, clever wordplay, and genre-blending ability. Over the years, he has remained a consistent and dynamic force in Ghana’s music industry.
By declaring 2025 a “selfish year”, Medikal signals his intent to elevate his craft and deliver projects that reflect his unique artistry. Fans can look forward to a year filled with pure Medikal energy, as the rapper prepares to make an even bigger mark on the music scene.
