Communications Minister Nominee Warns Telcos of Sanctions for Poor Service
Samuel Nartey George, the Minister nominee for Communications, Digitalisation, and Innovation, has cautioned Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) that failure to meet required service quality standards will attract sanctions, including fines.
Speaking during his vetting by the Appointments Committee on Thursday, January 30, Mr. George reiterated his commitment to ensuring that telecommunications companies deliver reliable and efficient services to Ghanaians.
He acknowledged that while the government remains committed to supporting MNOs in enhancing their infrastructure, it will not tolerate subpar service delivery.
“I will not hesitate to impose fines when MNOs fail to meet the required service quality, even as we work with them to improve their systems,” he stated.
Mr. George reaffirmed his dedication to holding service providers accountable while fostering a digital environment that encourages innovation and technological progress in Ghana.
