Three Arrested Over Fatal Disturbances at Nsoatreman vs. Asante Kotoko Match
Three individuals have been arrested in connection with violent disturbances that erupted during the Nsoatreman FC vs. Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC match in the Bono Region, resulting in one fatality.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrests following the incident on February 2, 2025, at Nsoatre. The violence that ensued during the match tragically claimed the life of one individual, prompting swift police action.
The suspects, identified as Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Agyemang Duah Owusu, and Kyeremeh Joseph, are currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations. A search of Agyemang Duah Owusu’s residence led to the discovery of two garments with suspected bloodstains and an MP 23 pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition, further intensifying police inquiries.
In response to the tragic event, Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has extended his condolences to the bereaved family and the leadership of Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC. He reassured them of the police’s unwavering commitment to conducting a thorough investigation to bring justice to those affected.
To expedite the case, a special investigative team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters has been deployed to support the Bono Regional Police Command in uncovering the full details of the incident and ensuring accountability.
