Afrobeats sensation Twicy has emerged as one of the standout stars of the 2024 Central Music Awards, taking home two prestigious titles: Artist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year. The awards ceremony, held recently in Cape Coast, celebrated the “Live It Up” singer’s remarkable achievements in the music industry this year.
Twicy was nominated in an impressive eight categories, including Artist of the Year, EP/Album of the Year, AfroPop Song of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Song of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Best Music Video of the Year. His nominations featured hits such as “Lotto” and “Live It Up,” both from his debut album Far Away.
This milestone victory caps off an incredible year for the artist, whose music has dominated airwaves across Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK. Known for his dynamic style and ability to adapt to evolving musical trends, Twicy continues to establish himself as a rising star in the Afrobeats genre.
The single “Live It Up,” released last year, played a pivotal role in his ascent to fame. Twicy even showcased the track earlier this year in a live performance at Glitch Africa Studios, further cementing his growing reputation as a versatile performer.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Twicy reflected on his journey and aspirations: “My earliest interaction with music came from listening to my parents’ collection of cassette tapes. Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Ofori Amponsah, and Fela Kuti were some of the greats who inspired me. Winning these awards and receiving seven nominations are significant steps toward my dream of becoming a leading voice in African music.”
With these accolades, Twicy is poised to continue making waves and carving out his niche in the global music scene.
